Lagom
Lagom is a Swedish philosophy that means “just the right amount.”
It’s about balance, not too much and not too little. It means living simply, not wasting things, and finding harmony in everyday life.
In Sweden, it’s ingrained in the culture; some even call it ‘The Land of the Lagom.’ It’s been evolving since the Viking era. It isn’t a strict rule; it’s more like a guide that helps us make choices every day.
It might show up as working hard enough to stay productive without burning out, taking one slice instead of two, or stripping a song down to its essential elements, “less is more.”
Instead of always wanting more, it teaches us to be happy with what is enough, shifting focus to inner contentment.
It also reminds us that balance is good for us. People who live this way often feel less stressed and happier.
You’ll know when something is “lagom” when it feels just right, enough to satisfy you, but not so much that it becomes excessive.
