ABOUT

TAKEE is an Australian indie-pop artist based in Melbourne, known for his emotionally charged songwriting, versatile musicality, and captivating stage presence.

His musical journey began at the age of nine with classical violin, later expanding into guitar and songwriting as a teenager. His music draws heavily from his upbringing and cultural roots, particularly his mother's love for traditional Bengali music and her playing of the harmonium and keyboard. He blends those influences with artists like Ed Sheeran, NF, and The Script to craft a unique fusion of heartfelt pop, rhythmic storytelling, and genre-crossing production.

With a debut album on the way, featuring his fan-favourite single Watermelon Moon (released February 14th, 2025), TAKEE’s songs balance intimacy and vulnerability with fresh, commercially resonant production.

TAKEE was nominated for the 2025 Cassette Awards in the People’s Choice category, a national recognition celebrating JMC’s most promising emerging artists, in the style of the Grammys.

TAKEE is a familiar face on Melbourne’s live circuit, from intimate busking sets to full-band gigs. He’s performed locally at venues such as Mamma Chen’s, The Bergy Bandroom, The Espy, The Workers Club, Bar Oussou, The Gasometer, and more. Internationally, he has taken his music to stages like Nashville’s Bluebird Café and Commodore Grille, Mackenzies Tunes & Tonics (Virginia), The Lost Church (San Francisco), Ju Ju Social Club (LA), and more. TAKEE even found himself sleeping on the same couch Quentin Tarantino had once occupied in Los Angeles, a story that highlights his adventurous spirit and dedication to chasing music wherever it leads.

Beyond performing, TAKEE is deeply involved in the creative community. As part of the Amplify committee, he has helped run events such as KickFlip, Darebin Battle of the Bands, and Tiny Decibels, empowering young artists and building community through music.

He also created his own seasonal radio show and podcast, The Spotlight, as well as a one-off radio program, Stories Behind the Sound, for the 2025 twenty-four-hour Radiothon broadcast. Additionally, he’s hosted several other shows on SYN 90.7FM, including Get Cereal, The Hoist, Asian Pop Nation, and Panorama.

TAKEE has interviewed a wide range of guests, including Justice Crew, The Maggie Pills, and Dr. John Martin Cass (Founder of JMC Academy), among others.

He’s been personally invited to meet the Minister for Creative Industries and the Minister for Youth, as well as to attend The Push’s 2026+ Strategy Workshop, contributing to shaping the future of music and youth culture in Victoria.

TAKEE’s career also spans teaching and mentoring. Having worked as a music teacher, he has shared his passion and skills with the next generation, continuing his commitment to fostering creativity in young people. At JMC Academy, he’s been nominated to mentor new students to help them settle in. His artistic pursuits further extend into acting, where he has appeared in several short films, earning him an IMDB credit and adding yet another dimension to his creative expression.

Behind the scenes, TAKEE’s also contributed to the industry through business development at DJ Central Records, an internship with Tibi Access (supporting accessibility in music), and as a sound technician at festivals like Tanglewood, Renaissance, and Esoteric. He began making lyric videos at 14, which have collectively earned nearly 2 million views.

TAKEE is establishing himself as one of Australia’s most distinctive voices and a multifaceted creative with the ambition and vision to make his mark both at home and internationally. He continues to evolve as a creative entrepreneur, making music that connects and inspires across generations and cultures.
